The Hawkesbury Jazz Club was formed out of sheer necessity in August 2000 when a local jazz festival was being planned for Richmond. The festival concept was enthusiastically supported by the Hawkesbury City Council, who needed an incorporated association to which it could extend its sponsorship funding - hence the formation of the club. The club’s mission is to promote, encourage and foster the development of jazz in the Hawkesbury area so that enthusiasts have an opportunity to get together to listen to, and share the enjoyment of their favourite music, and the club is open to anyone, whether they play , or just like to listen. Young people are especially welcome, particularly school students including music in their curriculum with jazz as an interest. The Hawkesbury Jazz Club now has thirty five members . Some are talented performers and the Club Ensemble has featured at gigs in and around the district , enabling us to showcase our own local talent. Hawkesbury Jazz Club gets together every Wednesday at the Richmond Club (corner Francis St and East Market St Richmond) from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. Annual membership is $15.00 and a newsletter is circulated to members either via ordinary mail, or email, if required. You can join the club on any Wednesday night or contact Liz on 0403198485. |
